- Drive from Campbell River to Port Hardy to catch the Inside Passage Ferry
- Distance Travelled: 268 km
- Time on the road: 3 hrs
- Regrettable Decisions: (?) it's still too early to decide on a few today
- Wildlife Seen: (4)
- bald eagles
- another blue jay
- some heron type of bird
- some sort of rare slug

Today was a bit of a boring day; it started with a slow jog/walk through the woods, which was quite nice, even though the black flies are already out (I was really hoping it would be too early for the hardcore bugs, but I guess not).
After a nice breakfast with some Kicking Horse Coffee, I got on the road to take hwy 19 up to Port Hardy. The highway wound its way through the mountains.I do have some terrible photos taken as I was driving ... but I won't post them since they're terrible. Sadly there weren't really places to pull over that had views of anything other than trees. I did try though. The drive through the mountains went relatively quick. And both the tires and the brakes held up quite nicely on the CRV. They'll both get the true test once we get to the Rockies but I remain cautiously optimistic.
I arrived in Port Hardy with time to check my supplies, refill the ice in the cooler, go for a long walk along the water (where I spotted the heron-y thing) and grab a late lunch before heading over to the ferry terminal. I'm excited for the ferry ... hopefully I'll see something more than just bald eagles on the way up to Prince Rupert.
I won't have internet until tomorrow evening once we land in Prince Rupert (and I'm settled into my AirBnB). Hopefully I'll have some great photos to upload for you all tomorrow. In the meantime, wish me luck and hope for a good night's sleep as I head up to Northern British Columbia.
Tomorrow is my one year anniversary with D. I honestly can't believe that it's been a year. Happy Anniversary and sorry that I'm not there. I hope you haven't eaten all of the cookies yet that I made you before I left. (and thanks to sister-in-law Mel for giving me an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie recipe that I actually enjoy).
I'll sign off now and enjoy a glass of wine before the ferry leaves port. Here's hoping for calm seas, beautiful scenery and me finally getting some sleep!

It's been a pretty amazing year ST. Lots of great memories and many more to come I'm sure! We'll celebrate properly when you get back. The cookies remain excellent.. however even with strict rationing they are getting scarce now. I'm so glad your trip is going well, the pics are amazing.
